Disaster Response: Wildfire

On average, there are more than 160 wildfires in Newfoundland and Labrador every year.

As of August 2025, there have been 220 active wildfires so far this season.

If you see a wildfire, report it by calling
1 (866) 709-FIRE or 1 (866) 709-3473

If it safe to do so, take these steps before evacuating:

  • Close all windows and doors
  • Cover vents, windows, and other openings
  • Move combustibles away from buildings
  • Turn on lawn hoses and sprinklers
  • Stay tuned to local news stations for updates
